Description
A sweet and salty snack combining popcorn, white chocolate, and crumbled red velvet cake.
Ingredients
- 1 box red velvet cake mix
- 1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vegetable shortening
- 12 cups freshly popped popcorn
Instructions
- Bake red velvet cake mix according to package directions. Let cool. Crumble about 1/3 of the cake into small pieces (you need 4 cups).
- In a medium bowl, combine white chocolate chips and vegetable shortening. Microwave at half power in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until melted.
- Line a baking sheet with wax paper. Spread popcorn on the baking sheet. Drizzle melted white chocolate over popcorn and gently toss to coat.
- Immediately sprinkle red velvet cake crumbs over the white chocolate-covered popcorn. Gently toss until evenly coated.
- Let the chocolate set. Serve.
Notes
- You can melt the chocolate over a double boiler.
- Alternatively, place popcorn in a large bowl, drizzle with white chocolate, toss to coat, then spread on wax paper and sprinkle with cake crumbs.
