Ingredients

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened

- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a 12 cup muffin pan with cupcake liners.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
- Add the vegetable oil, egg, vanilla extract, and milk. Mix until combined.
- Stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth and thin.
- Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about two thirds full.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool the cupcakes completely before frosting.
- For the peanut butter buttercream, beat the butter and peanut butter together until creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Beat until light and fluffy.
- Frost the cooled cupcakes with the peanut butter buttercream and serve.
