Description

These sweet and spicy baked cauliflower bites roast until crisp and then coat in a tangy chili glaze. This recipe makes an easy, flavorful appetizer or side dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium head cauliflower, cut into bite-size florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha or chili garlic sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Toss cauliflower florets in a large bowl with olive oil, salt, and pepper until they coat evenly. Spread them in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  3. Roast for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the cauliflower is golden and tender-crisp.
  4. While the cauliflower roasts, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sriracha, sesame oil, cornstarch, and minced garlic in a small saucepan.
  5. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Remove the roasted cauliflower from the oven and place it in a clean bowl. Pour the warm sauce over the cauliflower and toss until coated.
  7. Return the coated cauliflower to the baking sheet and roast for another 5 minutes until the glaze caramelizes slightly.
  8. Transfer the bites to a serving dish and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot.

Notes

  • The total cook time is 25 minutes, which includes the two roasting stages.
  • Use chili garlic sauce if you prefer a milder heat than sriracha.
