Description
Layer Greek yogurt with granola and fresh berries in mason jars for portable parfaits. Make-ahead breakfast ready in 5 minutes. These layered parfait jars combine creamy Greek yogurt with crunchy granola and fresh berries for a portable breakfast or snack.
Ingredients
- 4 cups Greek yogurt (vanilla or plain)
- ½ cup honey or maple syrup (if using plain yogurt)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (if using plain yogurt)
- 1⅓ cups granola
- 1 cup sliced strawberries
- 1 cup blueberries
- ½ cup raspberries
- ¼ cup sliced almonds
Instructions
- If using plain yogurt, whisk together yogurt, honey, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl until smooth and well combined.
- Rinse all berries under cold water and pat dry completely with paper towels, then slice strawberries into thin pieces.
- Begin layering each mason jar or clear glass by spooning ¼ cup of yogurt mixture into the bottom.
- Add 1 tablespoon of granola over the yogurt layer, spreading it evenly to the edges.
- Layer 2 tablespoons of mixed berries on top of the granola, using a combination of strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.
- Repeat the layering process two more times: yogurt, granola, berries, until the jar is nearly full.
- Finish with a final layer of yogurt, then top with remaining granola, a few berries, and sliced almonds for garnish.
- Cover jars tightly with lids and refrigerate for up to 1 day if making ahead, ensuring proper food safety temperatures below 40°F.
- If serving immediately, enjoy right away or transport in an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack for on-the-go convenience.
Notes
- Use vanilla Greek yogurt and skip the honey and vanilla extract for a simpler, quicker prep.
- Replace fresh berries with thawed frozen mixed berries when fresh are not in season.
- Swap granola for crushed graham crackers, toasted oats, or crispy rice cereal for different textures.
- Add 1 tablespoon of chia seeds or ground flax seeds to the yogurt for extra fiber and omega-3s.
- Layer in sliced bananas, kiwi, or diced pears for additional fruit variety.
- Use dairy-free coconut yogurt or almond yogurt for a plant-based version.
- Choose full-fat Greek yogurt for the creamiest, most satisfying texture and best protein content.
- Pat berries completely dry before layering to prevent excess moisture from making granola soggy.
- Add the granola layer just before eating if making jars ahead to maintain maximum crunch.
- Pack granola separately in a small container and add just before eating for make-ahead parfaits.
- Store assembled parfait jars without granola topping covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
