Description
White Trash Casserole is a hearty and comforting dish made with ground beef, creamy soups, and layers of corn chips and cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
- 1 can cream of chicken soup (10.5 oz)
- 1 can diced tomatoes with green chilies (10 oz)
- 1 can corn, drained (15 oz)
- 1 bag corn chips (14 oz)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, diced tomatoes with green chilies, and drained corn. Mix until well combined.
- Spread a layer of corn chips at the bottom of a large baking dish.
- Pour half of the beef mixture over the corn chips and spread it evenly.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the beef mixture.
- Add another layer of corn chips, followed by the remaining beef mixture, and top with the rest of the cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the recipe by adding your favorite vegetables.
- This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
