Description
Creamy whipped feta dip drizzled with spicy-sweet hot honey, served with golden air fryer pita chips. This appetizer is fast and impressive for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces feta cheese, broken into chunks
- ½ cup Greek yogurt
- ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 to 2 teaspoons hot sauce
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 4 pita breads
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons chopped pistachios or almonds
- Fresh dill or parsley for garnish
- Extra red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Rinse the feta chunks briefly under cold water and drain them well.
- Add feta, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, and black pepper to a food processor. Blend until smooth and fluffy, scraping down the sides as needed.
- Whisk together honey, hot sauce, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl to prepare the hot honey.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F for 2 minutes.
- Cut each pita bread into 8 triangular wedges. Toss them with olive oil, garlic powder, and salt until evenly coated.
- Arrange pita triangles in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Transfer the whipped feta to a serving bowl and use the back of a spoon to create a swirl pattern.
- Drizzle the hot honey generously over the dip. Sprinkle with chopped pistachios, fresh herbs, and extra red pepper flakes.
Notes
- Replace half the feta with ricotta or soft goat cheese for extra creaminess.
- Use cream cheese instead of Greek yogurt for a richer dip.
- Swap pita bread for naan or flatbread for different chip shapes.
- Make the hot honey milder by reducing the hot sauce to ½ teaspoon or omitting the red pepper flakes.
- Top with roasted cherry tomatoes, fresh figs, or pomegranate seeds.
- Add fresh herbs like oregano, thyme, or mint directly into the whipped feta.
- Let the pita chips cool for 2 minutes after air frying.
- Store leftover dip in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
