Description

Crispy baked chicken wings tossed in a buttery garlic lemon sauce with bold, tangy flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings split into flats and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon pepper seasoning
  • 2 garlic cloves finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top. Lightly grease the rack.
  2. Pat the chicken wings very dry with paper towels. Place them in a large bowl and toss with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until evenly coated.
  3. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared rack, leaving space between each piece for airflow.
  4. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the skin is crispy and the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.
  5. While the wings bake, melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Do not let it brown.
  6. Stir in lemon juice, lemon zest, lemon pepper seasoning, minced garlic, honey, and cayenne pepper. Whisk until smooth and warm for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat.
  7. Transfer the hot baked wings to a large bowl. Pour half of the warm sauce over the wings and toss to coat. Add more sauce as needed until evenly glazed but not drenched.
  8. Serve immediately while hot for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Cook chicken wings to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F as measured with a meat thermometer to ensure they are safe to eat.
