Description
Crispy baked chicken wings tossed in a buttery garlic lemon sauce with bold, tangy flavor.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken wings split into flats and drumettes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon pepper seasoning
- 2 garlic cloves finely minced
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top. Lightly grease the rack.
- Pat the chicken wings very dry with paper towels. Place them in a large bowl and toss with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until evenly coated.
- Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared rack, leaving space between each piece for airflow.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the skin is crispy and the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.
- While the wings bake, melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Do not let it brown.
- Stir in lemon juice, lemon zest, lemon pepper seasoning, minced garlic, honey, and cayenne pepper. Whisk until smooth and warm for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Transfer the hot baked wings to a large bowl. Pour half of the warm sauce over the wings and toss to coat. Add more sauce as needed until evenly glazed but not drenched.
- Serve immediately while hot for the best texture and flavor.
Notes
- Cook chicken wings to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F as measured with a meat thermometer to ensure they are safe to eat.
