Ingredients
- 1 medium cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
- 1 cup thick, full-fat Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic, grated
- 1 tablespoon fresh chopped dill
- 1 tablespoon fresh chopped mint
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Grate the cucumber using the large holes of a box grater. Squeeze out as much moisture as possible.
- In a bowl, combine the squeezed cucumber, Greek yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, grated garlic, chopped dill, and chopped mint.
- Mix all ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
- Season the tzatziki with salt and black pepper to your preference.
- Transfer the tzatziki to an airtight container and refrigerate. It is best served chilled and will keep for up to 3 days.
- Serve your homemade tzatziki chilled as a dip, sauce, or meze accompaniment.
Notes
- Squeezing the moisture from the cucumber is key to a thick tzatziki.
- Adjust garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper to your liking.
- For a smoother texture, you can finely mince the garlic instead of grating.
- This recipe is easily scalable for larger gatherings.
