Description
This soft dinner rolls dough makes fluffy, buttery rolls perfect for any meal. Easy to prepare and ideal for fresh summer baking.
Ingredients
- 3 and 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 and 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
- 2 tablespoons melted butter for brushing
Instructions
- In a large bowl combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 to 7 minutes until foamy.
- Add egg and softened butter to the yeast mixture and whisk until combined.
- Add flour and salt gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal portions. Shape each into a smooth ball.
- Arrange dough balls in a greased baking dish, leaving a little space between each. Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes until golden brown on top.
- Brush warm rolls with melted butter and serve.
Notes
- For extra softness, place a small pan of water on the lower oven rack while baking to create gentle steam.
