Description

Combine crispy smashed beef patties with taco convenience for a quick weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 half teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 half teaspoon onion powder
  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 half cup mayonnaise (for sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup (for sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard (for sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon pickle relish (for sauce)
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce (optional topping)
  • 1 tomato diced (optional topping)
  • 1 half cup sliced pickles (optional topping)

Instructions

  1. Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and pickle relish in a small bowl to make the sauce. Set the sauce aside.
  2. Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions. Gently press each portion onto one side of each tortilla, spreading it thinly to cover the surface.
  3. Season the beef side with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium high heat.
  5. Place the tortillas beef side down onto the hot skillet. Press gently to help the beef stick and create a crispy crust. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the beef browns and cooks through to 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
  6. Flip each tortilla so the tortilla side is down. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the cooked beef. Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes until the tortilla lightly toasts and the cheese melts.
  7. Remove from heat and top with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and sauce. Fold and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Press the beef thin for the best crispy edges and quick cooking.
  • Work in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding the pan.
