A quick and satisfying low carb smash burger lettuce wrap recipe ready in 25 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef 80 percent lean
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 half teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 8 large romaine or iceberg lettuce leaves
- 1 small tomato sliced
- 1 half small red onion thinly sliced
- 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
Instructions
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions. Roll loosely into balls.
- Heat a large cast iron skillet or griddle over high heat until very hot.
- Place the beef balls onto the hot surface and smash each one flat until about one quarter inch thick.
- Season the patties with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the edges are browned and crispy.
- Flip each patty and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and allow it to melt.
- In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard to create a sauce.
- Lay out the lettuce leaves and spread a spoonful of sauce on each.
- Place a smash burger onto each lettuce leaf, then top with sliced tomato and red onion.
- Wrap the lettuce around the burger and serve immediately.
