Description

A quick and satisfying low carb smash burger lettuce wrap recipe ready in 25 minutes.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 80 percent lean
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 half teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 8 large romaine or iceberg lettuce leaves
  • 1 small tomato sliced
  • 1 half small red onion thinly sliced
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard


Instructions

  1. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions. Roll loosely into balls.
  2. Heat a large cast iron skillet or griddle over high heat until very hot.
  3. Place the beef balls onto the hot surface and smash each one flat until about one quarter inch thick.
  4. Season the patties with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the edges are browned and crispy.
  5. Flip each patty and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and allow it to melt.
  6. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard to create a sauce.
  7. Lay out the lettuce leaves and spread a spoonful of sauce on each.
  8. Place a smash burger onto each lettuce leaf, then top with sliced tomato and red onion.
  9. Wrap the lettuce around the burger and serve immediately.
