Description
This slow cooker honey garlic chicken is tender, juicy, and coated in a rich sweet and savory sauce. It cooks low and slow for an easy dinner.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs
- 1 half cup honey
- 1 third cup low sodium soy sauce
- 1 quarter cup ketchup
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Place the chicken thighs in the slow cooker in an even layer.
- In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, garlic, ginger, and black pepper. Pour the sauce over the chicken.
- Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit and is tender.
- Remove the chicken and set aside. Pour the sauce into a small saucepan.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Stir into the sauce and bring to a simmer over medium heat until thickened, about 3 to 5 minutes.
- Return the chicken to the thickened sauce and coat well.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- For best texture, avoid overcooking as the chicken can become too soft after extended time in the slow cooker.
