Description
These savory chicken sausage rolls are flaky and lightly sweet with a hot honey drizzle. They use crisp puff pastry and herbs, making them a good appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chicken sausage
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs divided
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves plus more for garnish
- 1 package puff pastry thawed
- 2 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning
- 2 tablespoons hot honey
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl combine chicken sausage, cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, 1 egg, and thyme. Mix until evenly combined.
- In a small bowl whisk the remaining egg with 1 tablespoon water to make an egg wash.
- Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle. Cut into 4 long strips.
- Divide sausage mixture into 4 portions and shape each into a long log. Place each log down the center of each pastry strip.
- Brush one edge of the pastry with Dijon mustard and the other edge with egg wash. Roll pastry over the sausage and press to seal.
- Place seam side down and slice into 1 1/2 inch pieces. Arrange on baking sheet.
- Brush tops with egg wash and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes until pastry is golden and sausage is fully cooked.
- Let cool slightly then drizzle with hot honey and garnish with fresh thyme.
- Cook chicken to an internal temperature of 165°F for safe consumption.
