Description
Make restaurant-style ravioli at home with this creamy tomato ravioli sauce. It combines buttery garlic, tomato, and cheese for a quick gourmet meal.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons salted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon mustard powder
- ¾ cup chicken broth
- 1½ cups half and half
- 10 ounces diced tomatoes with green chilies, drained (reserve juice)
- 3 tablespoons softened cream cheese
- ⅓ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 pinch red pepper flakes (optional)
- 20 ounces refrigerated cheese ravioli
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook ravioli according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add garlic and cook for 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Whisk in flour and cook for 2 more minutes until lightly golden.
- Stir in tomato paste, onion powder, basil, oregano, and mustard powder.
- Gradually whisk in chicken broth, followed by the half and half, stirring constantly. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Add softened cream cheese and diced tomatoes. Stir until smooth and slightly thickened, about 3–5 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low and add Parmesan cheese. Stir until melted and creamy.
- Gently fold in cooked ravioli until coated in sauce. Add a splash of reserved tomato juice if needed to thin.
- Sprinkle with red pepper flakes and parsley before serving.
Notes
- Use fresh or frozen ravioli.
- Reserve the juice from the diced tomatoes with green chilies to thin the sauce if necessary.
