Description
Pan-fried potato cheese cakes are crispy outside and tender inside. This is a simple skillet recipe using common ingredients.
Ingredients
- 2 and one half cups mashed russet potatoes cooled
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 half cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 half teaspoon black pepper
- 1 quarter teaspoon garlic powder
- 3 tablespoons olive oil for frying
Instructions
- Add the mashed potatoes to a large bowl.
- Stir in the cheddar cheese until evenly mixed.
- Add the egg and mix until fully incorporated.
- Sprinkle in the flour, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder and mix until a thick mixture forms.
- Shape the mixture into 8 equal patties about 3 inches wide.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Place the patties in the skillet without crowding.
- Cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side until deeply golden and crisp.
- Transfer to a plate and repeat with remaining patties.
