Description
Okra water is an infusion made by soaking okra pods in water overnight. It is gaining popularity for its potential benefits for gut health and weight management.
Ingredients
- 4-5 medium-sized okra pods
- 1 cup filtered water
Instructions
- Wash the okra pods thoroughly under running water.
- Trim both ends of the okra pods.
- Slice each okra pod into 2-3 pieces or make a few slits lengthwise.
- Place the cut okra pods in a glass or jar.
- Pour 1 cup of filtered water over the okra pods.
- Cover the glass or jar and let it sit at room temperature overnight (at least 8 hours).
- In the morning, squeeze the okra pods to release any remaining mucilage into the water.
- Remove the okra pods and discard them.
- Drink the okra-infused water immediately.
Notes
- Use fresh, firm okra pods for best results.
- Do not boil the okra, as this can destroy some of its beneficial properties.
- You can prepare a larger batch and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
- Some people prefer to add a squeeze of lemon juice for flavor.
