Description
Simple one-pan mushroom and onion skillet with savory seasoning. A fast, side dish that pairs well with main courses.
Ingredients
- 1 pound cremini mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 0.75 teaspoon kosher salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add mushrooms in an even layer and cook undisturbed for 5 minutes until browned.
- Stir mushrooms and cook 3 more minutes until most moisture evaporates.
- Add butter and sliced onions to the skillet.
- Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring often, until onions are soft and lightly caramelized.
- Add garlic, thyme, salt, and black pepper.
- Cook 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant and well combined.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately.
