Description

Monster Cookies are a fun and delicious treat loaded with peanut butter, oats, chocolate chips, and M&Ms. Perfect for beginners, these cookies are easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup M&M candies
  • Flake sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line two large baking sheets with Silpat mats or parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the oats, flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, use a mixer to beat the softened butter, peanut butter, and both sugars until creamy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and M&M candies.
  7. Scoop rounded balls of dough (about 2 tablespoons each) onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between cookies.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned and the centers are still soft.
  9. Remove cookies from the oven. Sprinkle with flake sea salt. You can also press a few extra chocolate chips and M&Ms on top if desired.
  10. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Ensure your butter is at room temperature for best creaming results.
  • Do not overmix the dough once the dry ingredients are added.
  • Adjust baking time slightly based on your oven. Cookies should be soft in the middle.
