Description

These keto mozzarella sticks offer a crispy exterior and a melty cheese center using a simple low carb coating. They make an easy snack or appetizer.


Ingredients

  • 6 mozzarella string cheese sticks cut in half
  • ½ cup almond flour
  • ½ cup finely grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon coconut flour
  • ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups neutral oil for frying


Instructions

  1. Cut each mozzarella stick in half to make 12 pieces and place them on a parchment lined tray.
  2. Beat the egg in a small bowl until smooth.
  3. Mix the almond flour, parmesan cheese, coconut flour, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning in a second bowl.
  4. Dip each cheese piece into the egg, then roll it fully in the breading mixture, pressing gently to coat.
  5. Place the coated sticks back on the tray and freeze for 60 minutes until firm.
  6. Heat the oil in a deep skillet to 350°F over medium heat.
  7. Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches for 60 to 90 seconds, turning as needed, until golden brown.
  8. Transfer to a paper towel lined plate and serve immediately while hot and stretchy.
