Ingredients

  • 8 ounces instant mashed potato flakes
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese softened
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder


Instructions

  1. Combine milk and chicken broth in a medium saucepan. Heat over medium heat until you reach a gentle boil, stirring often.
  2. Boil the liquid gently for 2 minutes, then remove the pan from the heat.
  3. Pour the hot liquid into a large mixing bowl.
  4. Add the potato flakes and stir until all flakes are wet.
  5. Let the potatoes stand for 5 minutes to fully hydrate.
  6. Use a hand mixer on medium speed for 1 minute to fluff the potatoes.
  7. Add melted butter, salt, pepper, sour cream, cream cheese, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  8. Mix on medium speed until the potatoes are smooth with few lumps.
  9. Taste the potatoes and add more seasoning if you wish, then serve immediately.
