Description
Quick and satisfying hot dog fried rice omelette made with leftover rice, eggs, and simple pantry ingredients. A fun and flavorful family meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked and cooled rice (preferably day-old)
- 4 beef hot dogs, sliced into ½-inch pieces
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup finely chopped onion
- ¼ cup finely diced carrots
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 green onion, sliced
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced hot dogs and cook for 3–4 minutes until lightly browned.
- Stir in onion, garlic, and carrots. Cook for 2–3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
- Add the cooked rice, breaking up any clumps. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until heated through.
- Add soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine. Mix in sliced green onions and remove from heat.
- In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, and salt. Melt butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Pour in the egg mixture and tilt the pan to spread evenly.
- When the eggs are just set but still slightly soft on top, spoon the fried rice into the center. Fold both sides over the rice to form an omelette.
- Slide the omelette onto a plate. Garnish with extra green onions or a drizzle of soy sauce if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Use day-old rice for the best fried rice texture.
- Adjust soy sauce to your preferred saltiness.
