Description

Quick and satisfying hot dog fried rice omelette made with leftover rice, eggs, and simple pantry ingredients. A fun and flavorful family meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked and cooled rice (preferably day-old)
  • 4 beef hot dogs, sliced into ½-inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup finely chopped onion
  • ¼ cup finely diced carrots
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 green onion, sliced
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced hot dogs and cook for 3–4 minutes until lightly browned.
  2. Stir in onion, garlic, and carrots. Cook for 2–3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  3. Add the cooked rice, breaking up any clumps. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until heated through.
  4. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine. Mix in sliced green onions and remove from heat.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, and salt. Melt butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Pour in the egg mixture and tilt the pan to spread evenly.
  6. When the eggs are just set but still slightly soft on top, spoon the fried rice into the center. Fold both sides over the rice to form an omelette.
  7. Slide the omelette onto a plate. Garnish with extra green onions or a drizzle of soy sauce if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use day-old rice for the best fried rice texture.
  • Adjust soy sauce to your preferred saltiness.
