Description

Quick and easy honey garlic ground beef and broccoli stir fry made in one pan under 30 minutes. Perfect weeknight dinner with bold flavor.


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • ⅓ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water (for slurry)
  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice (to serve)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)


Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, ginger, and red pepper flakes. In another small bowl, combine cornstarch with cold water to make a slurry. Set both aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook for 2 minutes until softened. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground beef to the pan. Cook for 5–6 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and no longer pink. Drain excess fat if needed.
  4. Stir in broccoli florets and add 1 tablespoon of water. Cover and steam for 3–4 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp.
  5. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the beef and broccoli. Stir well and let simmer for 2 minutes.
  6. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli evenly.
  7. Remove from heat. Serve warm over jasmine rice. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.
