Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (with juice)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until the onion becomes translucent (about 3–4 minutes).
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks (approximately 5–7 minutes).
  3. Season the beef mixture with garlic powder, red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  4. Stir in the chopped cabbage and diced tomatoes (including their juice). Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
  5. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender—about 25 minutes.

Notes

  • For a milder flavor, omit the red pepper flakes.
  • Add other vegetables like carrots or bell peppers for extra color and nutrients.
  • Serve hot as a complete meal.
