Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small head of cabbage, chopped
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (with juice)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until the onion becomes translucent (about 3–4 minutes).
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks (approximately 5–7 minutes).
- Season the beef mixture with garlic powder, red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Stir in the chopped cabbage and diced tomatoes (including their juice). Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
- Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender—about 25 minutes.
Notes
- For a milder flavor, omit the red pepper flakes.
- Add other vegetables like carrots or bell peppers for extra color and nutrients.
- Serve hot as a complete meal.
