Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- ¾ cup all purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 6 ounces cream cheese softened
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line an 8 by 8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter and let it cool slightly. Whisk in the sugar until smooth.
- Add the eggs, vanilla, and red food coloring, mixing until fully combined.
- Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt, then fold gently just until no dry spots remain.
- In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the batter and gently swirl with a knife.
- Bake for 28 to 32 minutes until the edges set and the center looks slightly fudgy.
- Cool completely in the pan before slicing.
