Description

Welcome to NoobRecipes! I’m Adam, your guide to fun, simple, and stress-free cooking. These Fresh Fig & Walnut Scones are tender, buttery, and packed with juicy figs and crunchy walnuts. They’re perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 5 tbsp cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup fresh figs, quartered
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • Topping: 1 tbsp cream + cinnamon sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Toss quartered figs with brown sugar and cinnamon. Chill in the freezer.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly.
  4. Stir in walnuts, then gently fold in chilled figs. Freeze mixture for 10 minutes.
  5. Make a well in the center. Pour in buttermilk and cream. Gently fold until dough just comes together.
  6. Turn dough onto a floured surface. Shape into a 12×3-inch log.
  7. Slice the log into 8 wedges. Place on the baking sheet.
  8. Brush the tops with cream and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, if desired.
  9. Bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden and firm.
  10. Cool slightly and enjoy warm.

Notes
