Description
Light and fluffy toast bread made on the stovetop with milk and butter for a soft tender center and gentle golden finish. This bread is softly pan warmed instead of aggressively toasted. A quick milk soak keeps the inside tender while the outside turns lightly golden.
Ingredients
- 4 slices sandwich bread about 1/2 inch thick
- 3 tablespoons whole milk
- 1 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Arrange the bread slices on a plate in a single layer.
- Brush the milk evenly over both sides of each slice.
- Sprinkle the sugar and salt lightly over the bread.
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium low heat.
- Add the butter and swirl to coat the skillet evenly.
- Place the bread slices in the skillet in a single layer.
- Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the bottoms are lightly golden.
- Flip gently and cook for 2 minutes until warmed through and fluffy.
- Remove from the skillet and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use thick cut sandwich bread for the best fluffy texture.
- Medium low heat prevents the bread from burning before it warms through.
