Ingredients
- 4 slices sandwich bread
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter divided
- 0.75 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 0.5 teaspoon kosher salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Toast the bread until lightly golden and set aside.
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon butter.
- Crack eggs into the skillet and season with salt and black pepper.
- Cook eggs to your preferred doneness, flipping or stirring gently as needed.
- Place toast on plates and top evenly with the cooked eggs.
- Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the hot eggs.
- Add remaining butter to the skillet and briefly warm the toast if desired until the cheese softens.
- Serve immediately while warm.
