Ingredients
- 2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 6 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tablespoon milk
- ¾ cup strawberry jam
- 1½ cups fresh strawberries, chopped
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll each puff pastry sheet into a 10 by 10 inch square and cut each into 4 equal squares.
- Score a border around each square about ½ inch from the edge, without cutting all the way through.
- In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture into the center of each pastry square, staying inside the border.
- Add a small spoon of strawberry jam on top of the cream cheese, then scatter fresh strawberries over the filling.
- Whisk the egg and milk and brush it along the pastry edges.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes until puffed and deep golden brown.
- Cool slightly before serving so the filling sets.
Notes
- Keep the puff pastry cold until baking to ensure the flakiest layers and best rise.
