Description
A quick and simple homemade sauce perfect for any ravioli.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ⅓ cup tomato paste
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken stock
- 1 (15-ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ⅓ cup heavy cream
Instructions
- In a medium pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the onions and garlic, and cook for 4-5 minutes until the onions are soft and translucent.
- Add the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the chicken stock, diced tomatoes, sugar, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream and cook for 2 more minutes.
- Serve with cooked ravioli.
Notes
- This sauce is best served immediately.
- For a richer flavor, you can simmer the sauce for an additional 10 minutes.
