Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Zest of 1 large orange
  • 1 1/4 cups fresh cranberries finely chopped
  • 1 cup cold heavy cream
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon milk


Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and orange zest until evenly combined.
  3. Stir chopped cranberries into the dry ingredients.
  4. Combine melted butter with cold cream, stirring until small butter pieces form throughout the mixture.
  5. Add the cream mixture to the dry ingredients and stir just until a thick dough forms with no dry flour remaining.
  6. Scoop dough into 8 to 10 equal mounds and place them at least 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Chill the shaped scones in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to help them hold their shape.
  8. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes until lightly golden and set in the center.
  9. Whisk powdered sugar, orange juice, and milk until smooth for the glaze.
  10. Drizzle glaze over warm scones and allow to set for 10 minutes before serving.
