Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey breakfast sausage
  • ¼ cup all purpose flour
  • 2½ cups whole milk
  • ⅛ teaspoon crushed red pepper optional
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Place the turkey sausage in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until fully cooked and no longer pink, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle the flour evenly over the sausage and stir constantly for 1 minute until the flour is fully absorbed.
  4. Slowly pour in the milk while stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
  5. Add the crushed red pepper if using.
  6. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  7. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  8. Serve hot.
