Description

This easy crab rangoon is crispy, creamy, and filled with savory crab and cream cheese. Make this classic crab rangoon recipe at home for appetizers or party snacks.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 6 ounces crab meat drained and finely chopped
  • 2 green onions finely sliced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Mix the cream cheese, crab meat, green onions, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a medium bowl until smooth.
  2. Lay the wonton wrappers flat on a clean surface. Put about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper.
  3. Brush the edges of the wrapper lightly with beaten egg.
  4. Fold the wrapper diagonally to form a triangle, pressing firmly to seal, or bring all four corners together and pinch to seal.
  5. Heat 2 to 3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan to 350°F.
  6. Fry the wontons in batches for 2 to 3 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crisp.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel lined plate to drain.
  8. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Keep unused wonton wrappers covered with a damp towel so they do not dry out while assembling.
