Description

Soft, gooey brownies combining banana bread flavor with melty chocolate chips in one bowl.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups mashed ripe bananas
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2/3 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, then mix until fully combined.
  4. Stir in the mashed bananas until evenly incorporated.
  5. Add flour and sea salt, then gently mix until a thick batter forms. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips, reserving a small handful for topping.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top.
  8. Bake for 24 to 27 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely in the pan for at least 1 hour before slicing.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas with brown spots for the best sweetness and flavor.
  • Avoid overbaking to keep the brownies soft and fudgy.
