Description
Soft, gooey brownies combining banana bread flavor with melty chocolate chips in one bowl.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cups mashed ripe bananas
- 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
- 2/3 cup dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, then mix until fully combined.
- Stir in the mashed bananas until evenly incorporated.
- Add flour and sea salt, then gently mix until a thick batter forms. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, reserving a small handful for topping.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 24 to 27 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool completely in the pan for at least 1 hour before slicing.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas with brown spots for the best sweetness and flavor.
- Avoid overbaking to keep the brownies soft and fudgy.
