Description
Golden crispy keto onion rings made with almond flour and Parmesan. Easy air fryer or oven method with perfect crunch and low carbs.
Ingredients
- 1 large sweet onion sliced into rings
- 1 cup finely ground almond flour
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F or oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper if using the oven.
- In a medium bowl, combine almond flour, Parmesan cheese, baking powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until evenly blended.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and heavy cream until smooth.
- Dip each onion ring into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off.
- Press the onion ring into the almond flour mixture, coating well and pressing gently so the coating sticks.
- Place coated rings on a tray. Let them rest for 5 to 10 minutes to help the coating set.
- Arrange onion rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket or on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly spray with cooking spray.
- Air fryer method: Cook for 5 minutes, flip carefully, spray again, and cook another 5 minutes until golden and crisp.
- Oven method: Bake for 10 minutes, flip, spray again, and bake an additional 10 to 12 minutes until crispy and browned.
- Serve immediately while hot and crisp.
Notes
- Press the coating firmly onto the onion rings to prevent it from falling off during cooking.
- Do not overcrowd the basket or sheet to ensure proper crisping.
