Description
Creamy turkey sausage gravy made in one skillet in just 20 minutes. Rich, savory, and perfect over warm biscuits or toast.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey breakfast sausage
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 2 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground turkey sausage and cook for 6 to 8 minutes, breaking it into small crumbles, until fully cooked and no longer pink.
- Reduce heat to medium low. Add butter to the skillet and stir until melted and combined with the sausage.
- Sprinkle flour evenly over the sausage mixture. Stir constantly for 1 to 2 minutes to cook off the raw flour taste.
- Slowly pour in the milk, about 1/2 cup at a time, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
- Increase heat slightly to bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until thickened to a smooth, creamy consistency.
- Stir in salt and black pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Serve hot over warm biscuits or toasted bread.
Notes
- Cook ground turkey to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F as measured with a meat thermometer to ensure it is safe to eat.
