Description

Creamy turkey sausage gravy made in one skillet in just 20 minutes. Rich, savory, and perfect over warm biscuits or toast.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey breakfast sausage
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground turkey sausage and cook for 6 to 8 minutes, breaking it into small crumbles, until fully cooked and no longer pink.
  2. Reduce heat to medium low. Add butter to the skillet and stir until melted and combined with the sausage.
  3. Sprinkle flour evenly over the sausage mixture. Stir constantly for 1 to 2 minutes to cook off the raw flour taste.
  4. Slowly pour in the milk, about 1/2 cup at a time, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
  5. Increase heat slightly to bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until thickened to a smooth, creamy consistency.
  6. Stir in salt and black pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  7. Serve hot over warm biscuits or toasted bread.

Notes

  • Cook ground turkey to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F as measured with a meat thermometer to ensure it is safe to eat.
