Description

These garlic mashed potatoes are fluffy, creamy, and full of rich garlic flavor. This is an easy side dish everyone loves.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds red potatoes scrubbed and quartered
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1½ teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1½ teaspoons kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with water until it sits about 1 inch above the potatoes.
  2. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium high and cook 10 to 12 minutes until the potatoes are fork tender.
  3. Drain the potatoes well and transfer them to a large mixing bowl while still hot.
  4. Add butter, sour cream, milk, minced garlic, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Mash using a potato masher or hand mixer just until creamy with a few small lumps remaining.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, then serve warm.

Notes
