Ingredients
- 3 pounds red potatoes peeled and cut into 3/4 inch cubes
- 16 ounces processed melting cheese cubed
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter melted
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 medium yellow onion finely chopped
- 1 slice white sandwich bread cubed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the potatoes and cook for 8 to 10 minutes until just tender but not falling apart. Drain well.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9 by 13 inch baking dish.
- Spread the cooked potatoes evenly in the prepared dish.
- Sprinkle the chopped onion and bread cubes over the potatoes.
- Add the cubed melting cheese evenly across the dish.
- Drizzle the melted butter and milk evenly over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle with salt and black pepper, then top with the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Gently stir to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and the casserole is hot and bubbly.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
