Description

These oven-baked cheesy potatoes are creamy and rich, featuring tender potatoes covered in melted cheese. This makes a comforting side dish your guests will enjoy.


Ingredients

  • 3 pounds red potatoes peeled and cut into 3/4 inch cubes
  • 16 ounces processed melting cheese cubed
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 medium yellow onion finely chopped
  • 1 slice white sandwich bread cubed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese


Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the potatoes and cook for 8 to 10 minutes until just tender but not falling apart. Drain well.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9 by 13 inch baking dish.
  3. Spread the cooked potatoes evenly in the prepared dish.
  4. Sprinkle the chopped onion and bread cubes over the potatoes.
  5. Add the cubed melting cheese evenly across the dish.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter and milk evenly over the potatoes.
  7. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper, then top with the shredded cheddar cheese.
  8. Gently stir to combine all ingredients evenly.
  9. Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and the casserole is hot and bubbly.
