Description

This viral cranberry jalapeño cream cheese dip takes 5 minutes to make. It blends sweet cranberries with spicy peppers over whipped cream cheese for an ultimate holiday appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 2 fresh jalapenos, seeds removed and finely diced
  • ¼ cup green onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons red onion, finely diced
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Butter crackers or water crackers for serving
  • Pretzels for serving
  • Sweet apple slices for serving
  • Fresh cranberries and cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring the cream cheese to room temperature for 30 minutes, then add it to a large mixing bowl.
  2. Whip the cream cheese using an electric hand mixer for 2 to 3 minutes until smooth, light, and fluffy.
  3. Add lime juice, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the whipped cream cheese and mix until well combined.
  4. Pulse the fresh cranberries in a food processor for 15 to 20 pulses until coarsely chopped.
  5. Transfer the chopped cranberries to a medium bowl and add the diced jalapenos, green onions, red onion, sugar, lime juice, salt, and cilantro.
  6. Stir the cranberry mixture gently until all ingredients are well blended and the sugar begins to dissolve.
  7. Spread the whipped cream cheese mixture in an even layer on a serving platter or 9-inch pie dish.
  8. Spoon the cranberry-jalapeno mixture evenly over the cream cheese layer, garnish with fresh cranberries and cilantro, and serve immediately with crackers.

Notes

  • Soften cream cheese at room temperature for 30 minutes before whipping to prevent lumps.
  • Make the cranberry topping 4 hours ahead or overnight so the flavors meld.
  • Drain excess liquid from the cranberry mixture before spooning over the cream cheese.
  • Use fresh cranberries for the best color and texture.
  • Store components separately in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Assemble the dip up to 1 hour before serving.
