Ingredients

  • 4 large Granny Smith apples peeled cored and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice


Instructions

  1. Peel core and slice the apples into evenly sized wedges and toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium low heat and add the butter. Let it melt gently without browning.
  3. Stir in the brown sugar granulated sugar and cinnamon until dissolved and smooth about 1 minute.
  4. Add the sliced apples and stir to coat evenly in the cinnamon butter mixture.
  5. Cook uncovered for 12 to 15 minutes stirring occasionally until the apples are tender but not mushy and the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Remove from heat and serve warm.
