Description
Soft, bakery-style coffee cake donuts with buttery cinnamon crumbs and chocolate chips. These are easy baked donuts perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 large eggs room temperature
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted and cooled
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
- 1/3 cup brown sugar packed (for topping)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (for topping)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease two standard donut pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix just until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.
- In a small bowl, stir together the crumb topping flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt, then mix in the melted butter until crumbly.
- Spoon the donut batter into the prepared pans, filling each cavity about three-quarters full.
- Sprinkle the crumb topping generously over each donut.
- Bake for 14 to 16 minutes until the donuts spring back lightly when touched.
- Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.
