Description
Make restaurant-style chicken parmesan at home with golden crispy chicken, marinara, and melted cheese. Comfort food perfect for weeknights.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, about 6 ounces each
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1½ cups marinara sauce
- 1½ cups shredded whole milk mozzarella cheese
- ⅓ cup grated parmesan cheese
- Cooked spaghetti or crusty bread
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking dish with parchment or lightly oil it.
- Pat chicken dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs and minced garlic. In another bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs and Italian seasoning.
- Dip each chicken breast into the egg mixture, then coat fully in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to help crumbs adhere.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Transfer chicken to the prepared baking dish. Spoon marinara sauce evenly over each piece.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake uncovered for 18 to 20 minutes, until cheese is melted, bubbly, and the chicken reaches 165°F internally.
- Let rest 3 minutes before serving. Serve hot with spaghetti or bread.
Notes
- To keep the crust crisp, avoid adding too much sauce directly under the chicken.
