Description
Whip up a quick and delicious Italian-Asian fusion dish with this 5-Minute Carbonara Ramen. It’s a beginner-friendly recipe perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
- 1 package instant ramen noodles
- 3 slices of beef fry-up or smoked beef, chopped
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp black pepper, freshly ground
- 1 tbsp of the ramen seasoning packet (optional)
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or green onion for garnish
Instructions
- In a serving bowl, whisk together the egg, grated Parmesan cheese, black pepper, and the optional ramen seasoning until well combined. Set the bowl aside.
- In a small skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped beef fry-up until crispy, about 3–4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant. Remove from heat.
- Meanwhile, bring a small pot of water to a boil. Cook the ramen noodles according to the package directions, but for about 1 minute less time so they are al dente. Before draining, reserve about 1/4 cup of the starchy cooking water.
- Drain the noodles quickly and immediately add them to the bowl with the egg and cheese mixture. Add the crispy beef and garlic. Toss everything together vigorously. The residual heat from the noodles will cook the egg and melt the cheese to form a creamy sauce.
- If the sauce is too thick, add a small splash of the reserved noodle water until you reach your desired consistency.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or green onions and serve immediately.
Notes
- Ensure noodles are cooked al dente to prevent mushiness.
- Adjust seasoning to your preference.
