Description

Cheese toast with a golden crust and gooey center made easily on the stovetop or oven. Perfect for quick breakfasts or savory snacks.


Ingredients

  • 4 slices sandwich bread (about 1/2 inch thick)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven broiler on low and position a rack 6 inches from the heat.
  2. Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Place the bread butter side down on a baking sheet.
  4. In a bowl mix the cheese mayonnaise and salt until combined.
  5. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over each slice.
  6. Broil for 3 to 5 minutes until the cheese is melted bubbling and lightly golden.
  7. Remove from the oven and rest for 1 minute before serving.

Notes

  • You can cook this on a skillet over medium-low heat if you prefer not to use the broiler.
