Description
Cheese toast with a golden crust and gooey center made easily on the stovetop or oven. Perfect for quick breakfasts or savory snacks.
Ingredients
- 4 slices sandwich bread (about 1/2 inch thick)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven broiler on low and position a rack 6 inches from the heat.
- Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
- Place the bread butter side down on a baking sheet.
- In a bowl mix the cheese mayonnaise and salt until combined.
- Spread the cheese mixture evenly over each slice.
- Broil for 3 to 5 minutes until the cheese is melted bubbling and lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and rest for 1 minute before serving.
Notes
- You can cook this on a skillet over medium-low heat if you prefer not to use the broiler.
- Use your favorite melting cheese blend for varied flavor.
