Soft banana bread cinnamon rolls swirled with cinnamon sugar and topped with creamy glaze. Perfect for breakfast or dessert in under an hour.
Ingredients
- 2 large ripe bananas, mashed
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup light brown sugar
- ⅓ cup melted butter
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup brown sugar (for filling)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for filling)
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (for filling)
- ½ cup cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line an 8-inch square or round baking pan with parchment paper.
- Whisk mashed bananas, granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, egg, and vanilla in a large bowl until smooth.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
- Gently fold dry ingredients into the banana mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll into a 10×8-inch rectangle.
- Brush the dough with melted butter, then sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
- Roll the dough into a tight log and cut into 8 equal pieces. Arrange the pieces in the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth to make the glaze.
- Spread or drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls before serving.
Notes
- For an extra touch, add ¼ cup chopped pecans or mini chocolate chips before rolling the dough.
