Description

Sweet Apple Cinnamon Bread with Brown Sugar Swirl. Warm, spiced apple bread featuring layers of tender fruit and a crunchy cinnamon topping. This loaf has a moist, buttery crumb filled with juicy apple chunks and sweet cinnamon sugar.

Ingredients

  • Nonstick baking spray
  • 2 cups Granny Smith apples
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons alcohol-free vanilla flavoring
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and coat a 9 by 5 inch loaf pan liberally with nonstick baking spray.
  2. Peel the Granny Smith apples and chop them into uniform 1/2 inch cubes to ensure even cooking.
  3. Whisk the light brown sugar and ground cinnamon together in a small bowl until fully blended and set aside.
  4. Beat the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl on medium speed for 3 minutes until pale and fluffy.
  5. Mix in the eggs one at a time followed by the alcohol-free vanilla flavoring until the batter is smooth.
  6. Stir the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and fine sea salt together in a separate medium bowl.
  7. Add the flour mixture and whole milk alternately to the butter mixture, stirring gently just until no dry streaks remain.
  8. Spread half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan and scatter half of the chopped apples over the surface.
  9. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the apple layer and gently press the fruit into the batter with a spatula.
  10. Repeat the layers with the remaining batter, followed by the remaining apples and the final dusting of cinnamon sugar.
  11. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes until the top is golden brown and firm to the touch.
  12. Verify the center is fully cooked by ensuring an internal temperature of 200°F before removing from the oven.
