Description
Soft, warm, and incredibly simple cinnamon sugar donut muffins that evoke nostalgic weekend mornings.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ½ cup milk
- ⅓ cup butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- ¼ cup sugar (for topping)
- 1 tsp cinnamon (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin or line it with paper liners.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix just until everything is combined. Do not overmix.
- Spoon the batter evenly into the muffin cups until they are about ¾ full. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the muffins are still warm, combine ¼ cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon in a small bowl. Gently roll or sprinkle the tops of each muffin with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter to ensure fluffy muffins.
- Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Roll or sprinkle the tops with cinnamon sugar while the muffins are still warm.
