Description

Soft, warm, and incredibly simple cinnamon sugar donut muffins that evoke nostalgic weekend mornings.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ cup milk
  • ⅓ cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ¼ cup sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (for topping)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin or line it with paper liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix just until everything is combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Spoon the batter evenly into the muffin cups until they are about ¾ full. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. While the muffins are still warm, combine ¼ cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon in a small bowl. Gently roll or sprinkle the tops of each muffin with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
