Description
Air fryer whole roast chicken with crispy skin and juicy meat. This is an easy family dinner ready in about one hour.
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken 3 and one half to 4 pounds
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 half teaspoon paprika
- 1 half teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 quarter teaspoon black pepper
- 1 quarter teaspoon dried thyme
Instructions
- Remove the chicken from its packaging and check the cavity for giblets. Pat the chicken completely dry inside and out with paper towels.
- Rub the olive oil evenly over the entire surface of the chicken.
- In a small bowl, mix together the salt, paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and dried thyme. Sprinkle the seasoning evenly over the chicken, rubbing it into the skin.
- Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.
- Place the chicken breast side down in the air fryer basket. Cook at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes.
- Carefully flip the chicken so it is breast side up. Continue cooking for 20 to 30 minutes more, depending on size, until the thickest part of the breast reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit and the thighs reach at least 175 degrees Fahrenheit. Cook poultry to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit as measured with a food thermometer.
- Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let rest for 10 minutes before carving to allow the juices to redistribute.
- Carve and serve with your favorite side dishes. Spoon any collected juices over the sliced meat for extra flavor.
Notes
- Choose a chicken that fits comfortably in your air fryer basket to ensure even cooking and proper air circulation.
