Description

Crispy air fryer sesame cauliflower bites tossed in a sticky garlic sesame sauce. A bold plant based appetizer ready in 45 minutes.


Ingredients

  • 1 medium head cauliflower cut into medium florets about 5 cups
  • 2 thirds cup all purpose flour
  • 2 thirds cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 half teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 half teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 quarters cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 third cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 quarter cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons thinly sliced green onions


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, almond milk, garlic powder, and salt until smooth. Add the cauliflower florets and toss until evenly coated. Sprinkle in the breadcrumbs and toss again until well coated.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 370 degrees Fahrenheit for 3 minutes.
  3. Place half of the coated cauliflower in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overcrowding. Air fry at 370 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 to 13 minutes until golden and crisp. Repeat with remaining cauliflower.
  4. While the cauliflower cooks, heat olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in the grated ginger and cook for another 30 seconds.
  5. Add the soy sauce, honey, water, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water. Pour into the simmering sauce and stir constantly for 1 to 2 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat.
  7. Transfer the crispy cauliflower to a large mixing bowl. Pour the warm sesame sauce over the top and toss gently until evenly coated.
  8. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve immediately for best crisp texture.
