Description

Crispy air fryer parmesan edamame ready in 10 minutes. High-protein snack with 19g protein per serving. Golden, crunchy, and addictively delicious!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen edamame in pods, thawed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh lemon wedges (for serving)
  • Extra Parmesan cheese (for sprinkling)
  • Flaky sea salt (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Thaw frozen edamame by soaking in warm water for 5 minutes, then drain completely.
  2. Pat the edamame completely dry with paper towels to remove all excess moisture for maximum crispiness.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F for 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Transfer the dried edamame to a large mixing bowl and drizzle with olive oil, tossing to coat evenly.
  5. Add grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, sea salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to the bowl and toss well until all edamame are evenly coated.
  6. Spread the seasoned edamame in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they have space and are not overcrowded.
  7. Air fry at 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring gently with a spatula every 3 to 4 minutes to ensure even browning.
  8. Check for doneness at 10 minutes—the edamame should be golden brown with crispy edges and slightly charred spots.
  9. Remove from the air fryer and transfer to a serving bowl immediately.
  10. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the hot edamame and sprinkle with additional Parmesan cheese and flaky sea salt if desired.

Notes

  • Pat edamame completely dry before seasoning to ensure maximum crispiness and prevent steaming.
  • Stir gently with a spatula instead of shaking the basket to prevent edamame from falling through the perforations.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket or the edamame will steam instead of crisp—work in batches if needed.
  • Serve immediately for the crispiest texture.
  • Replace Parmesan with nutritional yeast for a dairy-free, vegan version.
  • Use shelled edamame for a poppable snack without pods.
