Description
This air fryer egg and cheese toast is a quick 10 minute breakfast with crispy bread, melty cheese, and a perfectly set egg in every bite.
Ingredients
- 2 slices thick cut sandwich bread
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
- 1 tablespoon finely diced red bell pepper
- 1 tablespoon finely sliced green onions
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F for 3 minutes.
- Spread the softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. Place the bread butter side down on a flat surface.
- Use the back of a spoon to press down the center of each slice, creating a well while keeping a raised border around the edges.
- Sprinkle 2 tablespoons mozzarella cheese into the center of each slice. Carefully crack one egg into each well.
- Season the eggs evenly with salt and black pepper. Top each slice with the remaining mozzarella and the cheddar cheese around the egg white, leaving some yolk visible.
- Transfer the prepared toast to the air fryer basket. Cook at 350 degrees F for 7 to 9 minutes, until the egg whites are set and the yolks reach your preferred doneness.
- Remove from the air fryer and immediately sprinkle with chopped chives, diced red bell pepper, and sliced green onions. Serve warm.
Notes
- For firmer yolks, cook closer to 9 minutes. For softer yolks, begin checking at 7 minutes.
