Description

This air fryer egg and cheese toast is a quick 10 minute breakfast with crispy bread, melty cheese, and a perfectly set egg in every bite.


Ingredients

  • 2 slices thick cut sandwich bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
  • 1 tablespoon finely diced red bell pepper
  • 1 tablespoon finely sliced green onions
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper


Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F for 3 minutes.
  2. Spread the softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. Place the bread butter side down on a flat surface.
  3. Use the back of a spoon to press down the center of each slice, creating a well while keeping a raised border around the edges.
  4. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons mozzarella cheese into the center of each slice. Carefully crack one egg into each well.
  5. Season the eggs evenly with salt and black pepper. Top each slice with the remaining mozzarella and the cheddar cheese around the egg white, leaving some yolk visible.
  6. Transfer the prepared toast to the air fryer basket. Cook at 350 degrees F for 7 to 9 minutes, until the egg whites are set and the yolks reach your preferred doneness.
  7. Remove from the air fryer and immediately sprinkle with chopped chives, diced red bell pepper, and sliced green onions. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For firmer yolks, cook closer to 9 minutes. For softer yolks, begin checking at 7 minutes.
